Sandra, the hands of Asperitas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I discovered ceramics when I was 17 years old, at a cultural exchange to Beijing organized by my school. There, I tried pottery for the first time and I fell in love with it, wishing for the first time to become a potter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before taking this road for good, I pursued my academic and personal education: for study and work I travelled and lived in many different countries, among which Spain, Germany, France, and Turkey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Portugal I learnt how to sculpt and to work on the potter\u2019s wheel, while I worked as a tourist guide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pandemic brought me back home, and in 2021 I opened a ceramics studio in my hometown, Gorizia\u2014creating the place I wish had existed when I was a teenager searching for a pottery wheel course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Asperitas is not just a workshop, but a home for everyone who feels the need for a bit of creativity in their everyday life, and a gathering place for a community that grows day by day.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Whats does Asperitas mean?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Asperitas means many a thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In latin it designates something rough, like the clays I like to use, with stone-like texture and coarse to the touch. It can also describe a composition that is rich in movement and contrasts, where harsh parts are balanced with soft ones. So am I and so is my artistic production: always moving like the clouds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indeed, the word “asperitas” may refer to a kind of clouds as well: the Undulatus Asperatus, a rather rare kind of formation, which involves storm-like clouds naturally dissipating and leaving a clear sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is also my wish for every person that gives a home to one of my pieces or that visits my lab: a sky that always clears up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
